DCI identifies suspect in murders of Eastleigh mother, daughter, and niece

Homicide detectives said they have identified the main suspect as 24-year-old Hashim Dagane Muhumed.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has identified a suspect in connection with the brutal murders of three family members—a mother, her daughter, and her 13-year-old niece—whose bodies were found dumped at separate locations.

In a statement on Sunday, homicide detectives said they have pinpointed the main suspect as 24-year-old Hashim Dagane Muhumed.

According to investigators, CCTV footage revealed that Dagane was driving a Nissan Note with registration number KDQ 718Y, which was seen picking up the victims from their residence in Eastleigh on October 21, 2024.

The bodies of Dahabo Daud Said, 38; Amina Abdirashid Dahir, 22, and Nusayba Abdi Mohammed, 13, were discovered on October 22 at different locations.

The three had gone missing the previous night, and their bodies were found with multiple stab wounds. Police indicated that two severed hands were also recovered in South C, Nairobi, a day later.

Further linking Dagane to the crime, authorities found the Nissan abandoned near Wakulima Market at the ENA Coach stage.

DCI reported that the vehicle linked to the case has been impounded and transported to DCI Headquarters, where forensic experts are examining it for further evidence. Authorities noted that one suspect is already in custody and is cooperating with investigators.

Detectives also appealed to the public for assistance in locating Hashim Dagane Muhumed. They urge anyone with information on his whereabouts to report via the toll-free hotline, 0800 722 203, or visit the nearest police station.

Meanwhile, Dahabo Daud Said, Amina Abdirashid Dahir, and Nusayba Abdi Mohammed were buried in Langata Cemetery on Saturday, October 26, 2024.
